Our approach is simple. We offer 3 different styles of Box Newels: Craftsman, Classic, and Contemporary. Within these styles, our box newels come in 4 inch, 5 inch, and 6 inch sizes. These sizes are based on the core, not the base wrap. The standard species we offer are: Paint Grade (not mdf), Knotty Alder, Superior Alder, Red Oak, White Oak, Soft Maple, Cherry, and Rustic Cherry (other species are available upon request).

Custom designs and other species are available. Just talk to us about what you have in mind and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Box Newel Construction:

Our box newels are handcrafted in the USA in West Jordan, Utah. Our newels are milled from solid wood. All corners are mitered in order to have face grain on all sides of the newel. Some newels are assembled using the “style and rail” method. Base wrap and trim is sent loose. We also will send base wrap as a movable sleeve, or attach the sleeve. The loose sleeve and attached sleeve is custom and must be requested upon ordering.

We offer our 4” box newels in solid as well. The option for a 4” solid will be available upon placing your order.
